The 5 dimensions

God is the man who gave us life. Did you know we have 5 dimensions.

1st dimension is the physical dimension. With the physical dimension we can not run or do anything active. This dimension is an important part of our lives because if we couldn't move we can't do anything, and that's boring.

2nd dimension is the emotion dimension, This dimension allows us to show our feelings, to express how we feel. This is what helps people show what's happening to them. Without it no one will know if you are alright or not.

The 3rd dimension is the spiritual dimension. This dimension is shown as the soul of humans after they die. This helps us to build a closer and a stronger relationship with the father almighty, God. The spiritual dimension is one of the most important dimensions us humans have.

4th dimension is the social dimension. To me this is my favourite dimension because of how talkative I am. The social dimension helps people to communicate with others and it helps us build another strong relationship but with humans.

The 5th and last dimension is the intellectual dimension. The intellectual dimension is what us humans do mentally. For an example when we learn we are collecting the knowledge and storing it in our brain. The intellectual dimension is the dimension that helps us learn.

The dimensions are an important key in our life, without it we couldn't do anything.

Mortal verses Immortal

L.I: Explain what it means that the soul is immortal

Mortal
Immortal
Human beings are mortal because our physical being will die.
The soul or spirit in human beings are immortal because after our physical beings die, we believe our souls lives on.
Humans are like ice because ice melts into water and water is like the soul of an ice cube

Image result for immortalityFrom this my understanding is mortal is something that lives up to a limit and immortal is living forever.

The Gifts of the Body and Soul

WALHT: Group and classify gifts that relate to each of the four dimensions of the human body.
The gifts above have been gracefully given to us by God which allows us to perform many everyday tasks and everyone should thank him.

Last technicraft of term

Today it was the last day of technicraft,

Our teacher gave us an instruction, probably my favourite instruction he ever gave us. “Do anything you want but it has to include coding” said Mr Goh. Everybody was so happy because everybody has been working on their own games that they have made but haven't finished.

I have been working on a game which has involved a man with no money trying to survive in the jungle with only a knife, but there were hiding objects that could help you if you find in the game. It was going good until I accidently clicked of the game. When I went back onto the site to make my game I forgot my password so I had to start all over again.

Instead of starting over again I went around testing other people's games, my personal favorite was Eugene's game. It was about a heart trying to defend itself from rheumatic fever. The way it works is you are a heart and your enemy is rheumatic fever and you guys end up in a shooting battle if you kill the rheumatic fever you win.

It was a fun day today testing games and everything but I felt really upset when I had to start my game all over again.

Papua New Guinea

After analysing the poster image below, each member of our team responding to the questions or statements on the poster. These were recorded on post it notes.Screenshot 2017-08-16 at 10.23.08.png

This task involved comparing and contrasting similarities and difference.
Synthesis:
The Papua New Guinea houses are weak compared to the houses in New Zealand because there is not much support added.
The houses and buildings in New Zealand are made of bricks wood etc but buildings in Papua New Guinea are only made out of sago palms, timber and bamboo which can't really hold the house if any natural disasters occur.
Both countries also have an easy source of water in their houses but through different resources.
In Papua New Guinea their easiest water source is the body of water (e.g a river) but in New Zealand it's from the modern tap.

The Assumption of Mary

Father in heaven, all creation rightly gives you praise, for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom, she who bore the Christ in her womb was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

One glance at a daily newspaper or a television news show will tell you that some people do not value human life. But this is not news. During the Holocaust of World War II, millions of people were tortured and killed. This terrible tragedy led many people to wonder about human life. How valuable is a single human life? How valuable are the lives of the elderly, the unborn, the terminally ill? Are their lives worth as much as those of people who are healthy and active, working, and raising families?God creates human life and gives it value. And Jesus gave his life on the cross to redeem each individual human person. By doing this, Jesus said, “Your life is worth my dying to save you.” Through his own Resurrection, Jesus showed us the glory of our resurrection and of our living in the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised that the body and soul of a person, separated at death, will be joined together again in glory at the Last Judgment. The person will be whole for all eternity. The feast of Mary’s Assumption is a preview of what our lives will be. At the end of her earthly life, Mary was assumed, or taken up, into heaven body and soul. She did not have to wait for the end of the world, as we do. God granted her this special privilege because of her sinlessness and her fullness of grace. The Church has always believed in Mary’s assumption into heaven. But on November 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII focused the attention of the whole world on the Assumption of Mary as a dogma and mystery of our faith. This mystery shows us that God wants every human person, body and soul, to be in glory forever, just as Mary is now. This dogma shows how important every single human life is. Pope Plus XII hoped that by thinking about Mary’s Assumption, people all over the world would develop a deeper respect for their own lives and their own bodies. He also hoped that people would grow in respect for the lives of others.

My cousin made the Auckland rugby team!

It was a cold windy day, just fine for the rugby trial game. All the best players from each and every under 14 rugby union teams in auckland had to go to varsity rugby club for the auckland trials.

The auckland trials is a rugby game where the best under 14s players from every team in auckland came together and made a rugby game to see who would be picked to make a team to represent auckland.

My cousin Patelesio was nominated to try out for the trials because he was a very good player. He was set into a position, right winger. The right winger is all about pace, the right winger and the left winger are the fastest in the team.

It was kick off time(the starting of the match) The ball went flying up in the air, a tall big boy caught it but immediately he was tackled so hard that he was sent off straight away. A couple of tackles went by then finally my cousin gets a hold of the ball he sprints down the sideline and cuts back in when the half back in the other team dives in for a tackle, my cousin then sprints and dives for an incredible try. After that amazing try the whole of the other team was just aiming for my cousin.

It was a hard game for my cousin because he was being targeted but it all payed of when it was time to choose the team that was going to represent auckland. The first pick of the team was my cousin. It was a great game, I was proud, my mum was proud, my aunty was proud, pretty much everyone was proud.

Technicraft

Today The year 8s made something cool, every time the mixture touched liquid it just started to fizz.

Everyone first had to add Icing sugar, Baking soda, vita fresh, citric acid and tartaric acid into one cup. After all the ingredients were together everyone had to stir and combine every ingredient. All the kids then pour a spoon of the mixture into their mouths. The saliva gave moisture to the mixture which cause fizz. Some say that it feels like slime after 20 seconds of the mixture in their mouths.

Testing

Tech

The year 8’s made some weird fizz

Today The year 8’s made a science experiment that caused fizz.
First all the kids had to pour five mls of baking soda into a plastic cylinder tube. Next everyone had to pour a cup of vinegar  rapidly into the tube with the baking soda and what happened was incredible. The vinegar and the baking soda combined turned into a fizzy liquid which rises up and made a popping sound. It was like a shook can of cola opened and all the cola spills everywhere. Everyone had a taste and by the looks of 12 faces it wasn't cola.

Solid or liquid?

WALHT: Observe and discuss the reaction when 2 states of matter are combined.

Today the year 8’s had to create a colloid (colloid is 2 states of matters combined into one, no one actually knows if its liquid or a solid )

First everyone had to pour 15 ml of water into a container of corn flour. Next the kids had to stir the water and by the looks of it every stir they made, the mixture got harder and harder but once they stopped stirring, the hard mixture turned straight into liquid. The conclusion was that applying pressure into the mixture will turn the mixture into solid and solid is one of the states of matter and if there is a lack of pressure the solid will transform into a liquid in seconds. It is the most satisfying thing to watch when a hard solid just melts into liquid.

Swimming pool

During the holiday my family and I stayed at a hotel that my mum works at for my dad's birthday.

After school,(the last day of the term), my family and I quickly went home and grabbed our suitcases and hit the road all the way to the city which is pretty far away from where I live. We arrived at the hotel and immediately my eyes were glued to the swimming pool. If you know me, I love swimming, even though I can't swim, I just love to float around the pool.

We stayed at the hotel waiting for the sun to rise up and it was finally hot to swim. The weather was burning and every step I took outside my feet were cooking like pancakes. I reached the pools and was ready to dive in. I took a deep breath and jumped in, right off the bat, I was so cold. If you were in the pool it will feel like you're frozen in a block of ice. I came up with a pretty smart solution I'd say myself, we rented two rooms so I took each kettle from both rooms and heated it up, I then ran with the kettles to the pools and poured it in and it worked, the pool was warm.

The whole day I was in the pool thinking I was Michael Phelps swimming from one end to another until I kinda felt bored. I jumped out of the water and dialed my aunt's number, I asked, “Can Sio and Vita come over to the hotel and sleep over” She replied
“Sure If you want” I jumped up with joy and then five seconds later I had to sit down and do the waiting game.

It was 2 o'clock in the afternoon, my cousins finally turned up. I was super happy because I was in the sun for so long my skin would have burnt off. I told them to jump in and guess what, the pool was frozen again so I had to do the method again. Later on, we swam the whole day until 10 pm (the time the pool closes. )We had to get cleaned up and look fancy for my dad's 50th birthday dinner.

It was an incredible day and a delicious meal. My favourite part of the day was my dad's birthday dinner but that is a different story.

Manawatu River

We are learning to identify and discuss the main ideas in what we read and to plan our ideas to better inform our reader audience
Water worries

All living things
Water Cycle are showing how waters are re-produced.
Manawatu River, how is it used?
Sediment?
Vapour is Gas
Aquifers?
Dirty water down drains are cleaned before it goes into the river by sewage plants
Erosion?

How to make a Rain Harvester

Things you will need.
  • A container to hold the water
  • A big plastic bag
  • Two lengths of bamboo
  • A twisty tie
  • Some strong plastic tape
  • Rain

What to do:

  1. Take your bamboo sticks, cross the ends and push them into the ground at an angle halfway between upright and lying down.
  2. Use the twisty tie to secure the crossed ends together
  3. Cut off the end of rubbish bag, then cut down one side to make a large sheet.
  4. Use the tape to attach the bag to the sticks. Make sure that you tape around the top of each stick so that the plastic can slide down. When you have finished, the rain harvester should look like a sail, with some extra plastic draped over the sides.
  5. Position the container under the rain harvester at the bottom, where the sticks cross over.
  6. Test your rain harvester by pouring water down the plastic to ensure the water collects in the container. You may need to make a small cut in the plastic at the bottom to direct the water into the container

(WE NEED BOTH SOURCES!)
Eugene: Disgusting habits that people have is that they throw their litter and waste to the nearby lakes and parks.

Lasike: In Tamaki river there is a lot of rubbish clogged there. Navy trainees and a charity went over to Tamaki riv.er and found 25000 cubic meters of rubbish and over 10 years sea cleaners have picked up 4 million cubic meters of rubbish. At the Tamaki river anything and random things can be found, for and example the Navy trainees and the charity found needles and steroids in a box including other drugs.

Main Idea
  • Remind people of the role we have to care for nature
  • Stop wasting water
  • Increase people's awareness
  • Stop pollution

Problems in the manawatu river
  • There are no fences to guard the water
  • Farm animals are pooping in the river

Explanation

Water worries is a terrible event everybody face, no matter where you are in the world.

Water worries is a problem that people and communities are facing right now. It is about people polluting and wasting precious water which is being used for humans to survive. If the water is polluted our quantity of water can be decreased in the next few years to come.

This writing is used to persuade people to stop the destruction that people are doing to water. Why people should stop? Because if people waste and pollute water times and times again we might not have a future. Why am I writing about water worries, to increase people's awareness

Problem with the Manawatu river
Manawatu river, one of the most polluted rivers I know, it’s not really polluted by people its polluted by farm animals. If problem, there are no fences to block the animals from the river so to solved the problem, build a fence.

Keep the water clean, don't waste water and build a fence to protect Manawatu river.

Low Tide

I walk beside you
across mudflats in
my blue gum boots,
over crackling oyster
shells, green ribbed pippy, the traces of wading birds.

When the tides is out, what lies exposed:
river threads of mud, old round stones,
tiny mussels yet to grow:
my soul prince left
on the ocean’s

bones.
