Katie Glynn!

Today St Patrick’s school had a very special visit from an athlete named Katie Glynn.
Who is Katie Glynn? She is one of the most nicest people  ever, the most athletic and one of the best hockey players in New Zealand. She is such a strong and committed woman.  She   was hit in the head by a hockey stick which is pretty painful, but instead of sitting out she fought through her pain and returned to the game.

Later on she had to retire from hockey playing because of another injury which left her with a damaged spine - her back was hurting and even still today it causes her pain. It's very surprising how her back hurts but she talks to people like its not sore.

She played 134 games of hockey and scored 77 goals and she's the highest goal scorer in New Zealand hockey history. The most points she’s scored in one game is 3 points. Through her career she has made friends with many people e.g Lebron James, Gemma McCaw (Richie McCaw's wife) and the best tennis player today Djokovic.

Katie is a valued person, a loving and caring person, and a self disciplined athlete. Even though her and the team didn't bring back the gold we are still thankful for them representing Aotearoa.
